Twisted Thursday - Lots of Layers

Hello, I'm back already with another post!  I spent a lovely day with a friend today, playing in her craft room...*waving to you Heather* :)  I could have spent all week rummaging through Heather's stash and not been one bit bored lol  It's always fun to explore someone else's hoard of craft stuff and try out different techniques. I came home all inspired to dabble in a few new things and get out of my comfort zone.

I'm not much of a stamper but Heather had some lovely Dark Room Door stamps that I took a shine to...for colouring of course lol  So I stamped one of the lovely ladies from the 1920s Chic set and sat and coloured her with Heather's pencils...most of the ones I chose were Crayola pencils, they have a nice, soft lead.  I'm still very much at the practising stage of pencil colouring but I would like to get better at it, for a change from using my Copics...I like the different look of the pencils.

Anyhow, I came home and was determined to put her on something, not in the drawer and forget about her, so I made a card (which has taken me ALL night!!) to put in the Twisted Thursday challenge at The Outlawz.  The theme this week is Lots of Layers. Of all the challenges to decide I was going to play in for fun, I had to pick this one...I'm not very good with lots of layers lol  I usually keep my cards fairly simple. I think this card has more layers than I've ever done on anything so far! Here it is:

The gorgeous DP is all from Graphic 45 Fashionista collection. I've had this for quite a while and haven't used it cos I'm a bit scared of vintage :)  Thought it went well with this stamp. I didn't have the perfect colour CS for the light matting so inked up some SU Very Vanilla with Old Paper Distress Ink to give it an aged look. Then the panels were matted with black and layered on to the vanilla. The card base is SU Soft Suede.

I made the rosette the same way...inked Very Vanilla before folding, etc. The centre of the rosette is an antique-y looking shank button from my sewing stash.

PS  LOOK Helen...I have a skewed panel...bwaahaahaaahaaaa...never say never lol

Thanks for looking.....have a wonderful day :)

Mo's Digital Pencil Toddler Taming :)

Hello everyone...another week has flown by! We have our new challenge up and running for the Copic/Promarker group at The Outlawz. This week we'd like you to make a project that's inspired by a Book, Movie or Song...lots of ways to interpret this, so come on over and play along with us, we'd love to see what you come up with.

This week I have a card to show you:

This is Jill Two from Mo's Digital Pencil. I bought the set of cute 2 year olds quite a while back and they've just been biding their grumpy time waiting for me to pull them out and colour them up :) Isn't she just sooooo cute with her little attitude and those crossed arms. I was going to make a tag that said Little Miss Grumpy but then wasn't sure who would want a card with that on it lol so changed it to Hey Cutie.  This so reminds me of my little granddaughters when they get stroppy :)

The inspiration for this card came from the book Toddler Taming by Dr Christopher Green...a best seller I've never read!!! I was trawling through my digis looking for inspiration when this idea came to me...so it was a good reason to break out one of these cuties.

I love pink & green together and immediately thought of using this cute 6" paper pad by Imaginisce called Enchanted...another thing from my stash that's been waiting to get used. I think I have too much stuff!!!  Jill's little dress has crowns on it so the princess theme is very fitting...and doesn't she just look like a temperamental little princess?! :)

Unfortunately I forgot to photograph the Copic colours for this project :(  The hair is done with E30s, the dress with R80s, the top with the pale RVs and the green on the tights are the paler YGs. I used the Ns for the shoes...hope that helps...sorry!

Thanks for looking...have a wonderful day :)

Supplies:
CS:  X-Press It blending card, SU Rose Red
DP:  Imaginisce  Enchanted 6" paper pad
Stamp:  Jill Two from Mo's Digital Pencil, Sentiment from Amy R
Colouring:  Copics, glitter pens
Other:  SU Crystal Effects, foam dots, Kaiser rhinestone, SU Jewellry Tag Punch

Saturated Canary Queen of Hearts

It's Friday again and I'm back with a new challenge for our Copic/Promarker group at The Outlawz. Our theme this week is Valentines/Anniversary/Friendship...any form of love will do lol  Hope you'll come and play along with us this week and show us some LOVE-ly projects :)

From this month we will be offering a tutorial as part of our challenge in the middle of the month....the first one up is a fabulous Copic/Promarker technique tutorial by our very own Dawn. This is such an easy technique and lots of fun to play around with, so come on over and have a look at it (and download the free PDF).  The technique is OPTIONAL for the challenge, so if you'd rather not use it, you don't have to...we'd still love to see your LOVE projects!!

Here's mine...I've done another calendar page:

The colour blocking technique is lots of fun and because our theme is Valentines, etc, I decided to make a heart with it. I started off with a solid heart but wasn't happy with it...thought it was a bit heavy...so cut the middle out to give me a frame. You can't really go wrong with this technique, it's very free-form. A bit out of my oh-so-balanced comfort zone lol but I really enjoyed playing with it.

The gorgeous image is Queen of Hearts from Saturated Canary. I'm loving colouring Krista's images, their faces are sooo pretty, and for me it's often the face that makes or breaks an image.

She's been matted with Swiss Dots embossed SU Bashful Blue and SU Night of Navy. I've coloured her with my trusty Copics and glitter pens then glazed her boots with SU Crystal Effects.

Sureya Bookmark

Happy Friday everyone :)  We have a new challenge at our Copic/Promarker group on The Outlawz. The theme this week is Mardi Gras...purple, green & gold.  I had to Google this festival as I had no idea what it was all about!  As far as I know, it's not something we have in Aus. Green & Purple being my favourite colours, I loved making this project.

I made a bookmark using a Sureya drawing. I've had a hoard of these for quite a while but hadn't coloured any...was a bit scared of the manga/anime eyes lol so I kept putting off trying one out.  (They really aren't any harder than ordinary eyes now that I've tried!!)

I've coloured her with Copics and glitter pens. Her headband, gloves, gold dress band and eyeshadow have been clear Spica'd...her green bow, glove trim and boot trims have been coated with a glaze pen, as have the coloured sections of her eyes. Her skirt has been coated with SU Crystal Effects & glaze pen and her boots were embossed with Polysparkle embossing powder. She looks sooooo pretty IRL! I'm really happy with how this turned out...might have something to do with it being green & purple lol

I coloured her hair with Copics and then added some hair strands and highlight with a couple of Prismas. I wanted her hair to look spiky and sharp...I find it hard to get the exact effect with the Copic brush nib so add a little detail with the sharp pencils :)

If you click on the picture to enlarge you will see I actually managed to capture some of the gloss and sparkle this time...YAY...let's hope I can repeat the process again!

Here's a CU of the image before I put the bookmark together:

Saturated Canary Frog Princess

Hello everyone, it's Friday again! They certainly come around fast. Time for a new challenge at our Copic/Promarker group on The Outlawz. Our theme this week is everyone's favourite I think lol...Anything Goes...and we have our optional calendar page twist. If you'd like to make one of these calendars, head on over to our challenge and pick up the template. There is also a PDF with instructions on printing. We'd love to see what you make with this, then at the end of the year we'll be having a random draw for a prize from all the completed calendar entries, so come and play along with us :)

Here's my February page:

I've used a gorgeous Saturated Canary image for this page. I love these images by Krista, they have such pretty faces :)  I've had some of these for a while and haven't managed to colour any until now. I thought this little sweetheart was perfect for February, being Valentine's month. I've layered her with PSE onto some digi paper from Misses Bee Haven...thought this paper was just perfect for this project. She's been coloured with Copics, with a little glitter pen detail on her eyeshadow. Her gloves and dress drape have been painted with some gold shimmer mist.

Here's a close up of the lovely princess:

For some reason this photo looks a bit hazy...maybe it's just my eyes lol, they seem to be getting worse by the day :(

Mo's Digital Pencil Housework Fairy

Hello all, happy Friday to you :)  We went back to work this week after our lovely, long 3 weeks off...I so enjoyed the time off and wish it could be longer...oh well!!

This week's challenge theme for our Copic/Promarker group at The Outlawz is GIRLS ONLY...a really easy challenge, so hope you'll come on over and play along with us.

For this challenge I've made a large, hanging tag:

The tag measures 3 3/4" x 5 3/4". I've used the Housework Fairy from Mo's Digital Pencil and coloured her with Copics and glitter pens. The tag has been cut with my trusty KNK Maxx from a free cut file by Birds Cards. The backing mat is heavy weight Antique Gold metallic CS...the tag is cut from a tealy coloured CM CS from my stash.  I matted the image panel with SU Perfect Plum.

There's a bit of a story to this.....for the last couple of years one of my BFF, Helen, and I have had a bit of a joke going backwards and forwards...we have both promised that if we ever found a housework fairy (housework not being our favourite pastime lol) that we'd share her :)  Imagine my delight when I found one at Mo's while browsing!!!  I just HAD to buy her and colour her up for Helen.

I chose to do the tag so I could send a little note with instructions on how to use it..."Hang on the door of whichever room you want cleaned and the fairy will work her magic"....BWAAHAAHAAHAA  Hmmmm...now to make one for myself and hope it works LOL

Unfortunately the photo doesn't show all the sparkly bits :(  The teal has been liberally spritzed with shimmer mist and the image details, such as the spots on her dress, have been coloured with glitter pens.  I wish I knew the secret to getting it to show in the photos!!  Looks really pretty IRL:)

A "Nothing" Challenge lol

Hello everyone...don't fall off your seats, this is my second post this week!!!  I actually found a little time to play in The Outlawz Greeting challenge, which is to honour National Nothing Day! by using nothing on your project but your sentiment and an embellishment. Not that easy for me lol

Here's what I came up with:

And LOOK...NO colouring to be seen LOL!!!  I've used heavy weight Antique Gold CS for the base card and a gorgeous specialty DP from a Kaiser 6" paper pad for the background. Can't see it in the photo but the 'lace' across the top is embossed...so pretty IRL. My embellie is a Spellbinders die cut frame with a handmade paper flower. The sentiment is an SU stamp from my favourite sentiment set.

I'm addicted to these handmade flowers now lol  I have to stop myself putting one on every project :) This one was made from Penny Duncan's grungy Rose cut file and the spiky flower from SU Boho Blossoms punch for the centre. I've inked the edges before assembling, then liberally sprayed with gold shimmer mist when finished.

Thanks for looking....have a wonderful day :)

Life's a Beach

Hello everyone....time for another new challenge at our Copic/Promarker group on The Outlawz. This week we have a colour theme for you....Blue, Aqua, Turquoise & Sand...with an optional twist of a beach/ocean theme. Perfect for us southerners who are in the middle of summer :)

I chose to do another calendar page for this theme....thought it was perfect for January here...

For this page I used a cute Sonny Honeycloud from Pollycraft called Life's a Beach...isn't she cute! I'm a big fan of Paula's art and have quite a stash, which I'm working my way through slowly. The quote is included in the set of Sonnys I bought.

I created a little beach scene for her with my Copics. I'm sort of happy with the result...wish I was more artistic-ly (is that actually a word??!!) talented lol I would SO love to be able to draw, etc. I used some SU Crystal Effects, brushed on, along the water line to represent the wet area of sand and some puff paint to create the little foamy waves.

I'm keeping the calendar pages fairly simple...the image panel and maybe one mat...and no bulky embellies...so that the calendar isn't too bulky when finished.

Here's a CU of cute Miss Sonny:

Copic Colours:

Sheesh...there's a lot of colours here lol And silly me didn't check that the numbers on the Ciao markers were all showing before I photo'd the stack :( Here's a list of all the missing numbers for anyone that's interested:  BG01, BG10, BG15, BG23
BV00, BV02, BV04

Cameo

Hello everyone...hope you had a wonderful Christmas and NewYear. It's hard to believe it's 2012!! Where did last year go??!! Hopefully this year will slow down a bit and take its time instead of flying by in a rush.

We have our first challenge for the year up and running at The Outlawz Copic/Promarker group. The theme this week is Monochromatic Vintage.

Here's my card:

I've used a freebie from Digital Two for Tuesday called Cameo. There's not much colouring on her so this was a fairly quick project :) The DPs are digital from StarSunflower Studio and have been layered in my MMS software, then printed onto 200gsm CS. The lacy oval is a free cut file from Monica's Creative Room, cut with my trusty KNK Maxx.  And I've made another flower :)  I really love this flower pattern and it's so easy to make...the petals were also cut with Maxx...and it's been liberally sprayed with Glimmer Mist :)

Miss Anya - January

Hello happy crafters...I'm in a very cheery mood because I'm on holidays...yay  We have a break over Christmas/New Year with our business and this year we are taking 3 weeks off!!!  I think we really need the rest. This year has been sooooo full-on!

It's Friday and that means a new challenge for our Copic/Promarker group at The Outlawz. This week we have something a bit different...and a freebie for you if you're interested :)  This is our regular Anything Goes challenge, which we run at the end of each month, but for the next 12 months we have an OPTIONAL twist...to make a calendar page! At the end of the 12 months you will have a completed 2013 calendar to either keep for yourself, or give as a gift....all done in time to give as a Christmas pressie next year. The calendar file is a freebie...created by me in My Memories Suite. The file and instructions are available at our challenge...so if you'd like to play with this optional twist, hop on over and grab the file :)

Here's my first page:

This is another version of the calendar file that I made in MMS. I've used the 'January' from an MMS digi kit and layered the DP background in the program. I've then printed this onto SU Very Vanilla CS. The digi kit has all the month papers in different colours so I've made my pages for each month and used different colour backgrounds. The file prints out as half an A4 page.

I've used a gorgeous Miss Anya from The Greeting Farm, which I stamped while staying with my BFF Helen...thanks Helen...waving :)  I'm ashamed to say she's been sitting in my drawer for a loooong time, with her sisters, waiting to be coloured up :(  The image panel was then matted with SU Merely Mustard and adhered to the background page with repositionable glue so that it can be removed and recycled...can't bear the thoughts of having to throw her away when the calendar expires!!

I intend to either make another calendar for the following year and transfer the images over to the new one, or remove them and use them on other projects :)  Once finished the calendar will either be punched and bound for hanging or made into a desk calendar style.
