White Christmas Window

The current Pollycraft Challenge  is to make a project with either an All White Christmas (with colour only on the image)...or...a Snowy/Winter Scene.  I wanted to try something a little different and was thinking of maybe a shadow box card until my lovely friend Helen told me about a tunnel card she'd seen in a magazine...so off I went hunting to find something to look at to get an idea of how to make one. Helen came to the rescue with a link to a template, so I decided to have a play and see what I came up with.

All white is always a challenge for me...I've only done a couple of all white cards...but I had a picture in my head of what I wanted to achieve and it sort of turned out how I imagined!

Here's the card:

I've taken these 2 photos in different light to see if I could capture the different textures and effects. It's SOOOOO hard to photo acetate without getting reflections/glare!!!

There are 3 panels to the card. The back panel is embossed with a tree folder, with puff paint and glitter added to some of the branches for snow. The middle panel has a cut out tree which has been embossed with the CB Swiss Dots folder and I've added Stickles to the dots to look like glistening snow flakes. The star on top of the tree is a punch from my stash and it's also been 'Stickled'. I wanted the front panel to look like a window because I had in mind to use Paula's Evie Waiting for Santa image and she's sitting watching out the window for Santa to arrive :)  I've embossed the window frame with a CB border folder and then painted the whole panel with Liquid Pearls. A piece of acetate was cut and adhered to the back of the opening for the 'glass' and 1/4" DS tape used on the front to create the frame for the panes...this was glittered to make it look frosty.  At this point I did a very DUMB thing...I forgot to adhere the acetate BEFORE  assembling the card :(  It was an absolute PAIN to get that piece in behind the panel, in the right spot, without making a BIG mess....grrrrrrr....so frustrating when I make silly boo boos like that!! The Merry Christmas is embossed with another CB folder and cut out. I then coated the letters with Gelly Roll Stardust glitter pen. And last but not least, Evie was coloured with Copics, cut out and mounted with foam dots. If you click on the photos to enlarge them, hopefully you'll get the idea I was wanting to create :)

Thanks for looking...have a wonderful & safe New Year everyone :)

Hedgie "For You"

This is my second post today...woo hoo!  I'm making the most of not feeling 100% well by playing in my paper haven :) Being really lazy and ignoring all the work sitting around me, waiting to be done! It will still be there tomorrow (unfortunately!).

This is a birthday card for my niece...I think!  I'm not overly thrilled with the end result so will have to decide whether to give it to her or make her another one and put this one in my card box.

I've used a Penny Black stamp from the Wonderful Day set. I love these cute little hedgies :)  I also used this week's JAI challenge sketch.

Now I'm off to make a card for a friend's birthday.....so I might even be back later!!!!

Summer Bookmark

Here is another bookmark like the one I made HERE.  I love bookmarks and really enjoy making them. They make great little pressies to slip in with a card and most people use them :)

And here it is tucked into its pocket:

I've used the beautiful "Summer" digi stamp from Michelle Perkett. You can find her in Michelle's Etsy Store, along with lots of other gorgeous images.  The DP is from the new Kaiser English Rose collection. I fell in love with this collection as soon as I laid eyes on it lol! ALL the papers in the range are GORGEOUS...and I had to buy the 6" pad as well...LOVE that Kaiser have specialty papers and die cuts in their paper pads.

Royal Flower Fairy Box

Hellooooooooo everyone...yes, I'm still alive and kicking!! :)  It's been sooooo long since I blogged anything...I feel like I've been away for ever!  We run a business and I also work another job, so things got really, really busy leading up to our end of year break...then I came down with some dreadful lurgy that knocked me completely flat for 2 weeks :(  I'm still not 100% but on the improve every day...only coughed for 1/2 hr after going to bed last night...a BIG improvement on the 4 hrs I was doing to start with!!! This hasn't been my best Chrissy ever, but there's always another one to look forward to next year :)  And it will probably be here way too soon!  Anyhow...onto my project.....

I decorated this wooden box as a birthday pressie for my niece in Qld. Her birthday is 7th January and I'm often late for it, unless I'm organised before Christmas.  Thought I was going to be late with it again this year but seeing as how I was feeling so yuck yesterday, I sat and made this last night...cheered me up no-end...it's the first crafty thing I've done for a while.

Top of Box, Box & Box Open:

And here's a close up of the gorgeous fairy:

The fairy is Royal Flower by Caron Vinson, from Sweet Pea Stamps. Caron's fairies are simply GORGEOUS. I've had some of these for a while now and haven't inked them up...will be using them more now that I've broken the drought :)  She was lovely to colour.

Unfortunately, I find it very difficult to get the sparkle and bling to photo well...this looks so lovely IRL. Her wings have been embossed with Polysparkle EP, her dress overlay spritzed with Glimmer Mist and glitter pens used to highlight her hair and colour the flowers...oh well, one day when I have nothing else to do, I'll take some photography lessons on how to photo special effects!

Thanks for looking...have a wonderful day :)

Whoooo's 21

This card is for my Qld great-nephew's 21st birthday.  Yuk...great-nephew makes me sound soooo OLD LOL!!  His mum, my niece, is only 10 years  younger than me...we're more like sisters :)  When her & her sister (who is only 8 years younger than me!) were younger they used to take great delight in introducing me to people as their Aunty Lynne...just to raz me lol! They still do it sometimes :)

The challenge at JAI this week is a colour challenge of River Rock, Choc Chip & Wild Wasabi...great boy colours and perfect to use with my gorgeous little SU owl punch, which I've had for a couple of months and not used :(  I LOVE owls and had to have this as soon as it was available in Aus :)  Bad that it's taken me so long to put it to use!

Here's the card:
and I made an envelope to go with it, with another owl:

On the inside I created a pocket to hold his birthday money and the greeting.  I've seen some wonderful ideas using the owl punch...must find some more time to sit and play with him :)

Thanks for looking....have a wonderful day :)

Glittery, Snowy Christmas :)

I've made another Christmas card...I guess by the time I'm finished my list of Chrissy cards for the year, I'll be well over them, but for now I'm really getting into the Christmas spirit :)  I LOVE Christmas and usually put the tree up (a little one these days as we don't have kids at home anymore) on 1st December but this year I think I'll put it up a bit early...we're babysitting the grandbabies next weekend and I thought they'd enjoy it if we do the tree and decorations while they're here.

This is the very cute Cherry Kisses with Christmas Tree from Pollycraft. I've used very non-traditional Christmas colours for the first time and I can tell you it was VERY hard to put this card together...nothing seemed to 'work' for me...maybe next time I'll stick to red & green lol!  I've used Makeesha's sketch for the Inkspirations challenge this week, which you can see HERE.

She's standing in sparkly 'snow' that I added using puff paint & glitter. The background mat has been embossed with the Swiss Dots CB folder...thought it looked a bit like snow :)
Here's a close up:
It's hard to see in the photo but I've stamped a little Christmas tree at the top & bottom of the left side panel and heat embossed with polysparkle EP

Thanks for looking...have a wonderful day :)

Deck the Halls

This is my second Christmas card for the year...and if I don't get a move-along I'll be making cards to send on Christmas Eve!!! I like to send my cards out on 1st December but the last couple of years I've been a bit late...this year is shaping up the same way! I'm going to have to decide on a design and mass produce most of them, just making individual ones for the really special people in my life :)

I've been wanting to make an open book easel card since I first saw one a few months back, so decided to go with that for this card:

I've used Santa from Pollycraft to make a 6 x 4 card...he's been sitting patiently in my stash for a little while, just waiting to be used :)  I really love this image and have been looking forward to colouring him.   The easel cards I've made previously have been 5 1/2" square, so the image was a tad smaller than I'm used to working on lol!  I used some puff paint on his fur trim, the pom-pom and the snow, to give some dimension.  His boots and belt have been glazed so they are all shiny :)  The 'song' is computer generated and printed onto the panel. The sentiment is a Kaiser rub-on.  I've hand drawn the border around the sentiment panel...a FIRST for me :)

A view from the top:
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Inkspirations  -  Colour Challenge:  Kraft, Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White

Pressies for Me :)

The challenge at Pollycraft this week is "It's Chill Time".  I've interpreted this as relaxing time...not chilly weather...although the way our weather is going today, I could probably have done a winter card!!  It's been blowing a gale, with a thunder & lightning show, and bucketing down.  We're supposed to be nearly at summer here!

Anyhow, on to my project.....While my lovely friend Helen was here for a visit in August, she made me a set of cute Kaiser drawers for all my little embellie bits & pieces.  Thank you so much Helen...*waving*   I've been going to blog it ever since and not got around to it.  Recently Kaiser released an organiser kit so I thought I'd make one to go with my cute drawers...and I really needed to get my tools out of the boring ice-cream container and into something a bit more practical...and attractive lol!!  Because they both sit on my table and not against a wall, I thought I'd decorate the backs of both units.  I used two of the gorgeous Lillybean Fairies from Pollycraft, cut them out and mounted them on the DP...along with a few more elements from the same paper collection.

This is the 2 units:

The photo on the left, of the drawers, was taken in daylight so the colours are more accurate...I really must get over finishing my projects at silly hours of the night and having to photo in lousy light!!!! As you can see I'm putting the organiser to good use already :)

The back of the Drawers:
  And...the back of the Organiser:

I LOVE both of these units :)  They look very cute on my table and are sooo handy...and MUCH nicer than an ice-cream container!!!!  I made a couple of modifications to the organiser, with the help of my wonderful hubby.  Note to self:  DO NOT try putting one of these things together on your own again...unless you grow another pair of hands!!!!!

This is a first for me, I think...I don't make things for myself...most things are made as pressies for my near-and-dear...might have to do this more often :)

Thanks for looking.........have a wonderful day :)

CS:   X-Press It blending card
DP:   All from the Hey Birdie collection by Kaiser
Stamps:   Lillybean Fairies from Pollycraft
Colouring:   Copics, glitter pens

First Christmas card for the year!!

After making the princess card for the sketch challenge at Pollycraft this week, I got on a roll and had another image I thought I could use for this challenge as well...so here's my second entry :)  And I STILL couldn't cut my sentiment in 2 !!! :(

This very cute image is Bronson & Beaker with Gifts...aren't they the cutest thing!!  They 'halved' nicely for this sketch :)  I realised when editing the photo that I'd forgotten to Stickles the pom poms on his hat and boots :(  They are now all glittery but I'm not taking another photo and going through the editing process again...sorry...you'll just have to use your imagination :)

Here's the HARD sketch lol....

Thanks for looking...have a wonderful day :)

DP:   Kaiser Dear Santa collection 6" pad

CK Princess

The challenge at Pollycraft this week is a sketch...a HARD sketch lol!! I started off thinking I might not play this week...just couldn't get my head around what to make...then I had a brilliant idea, so set to work.  Half way through I decided it wasn't going to comply entirely to the sketch, so ditched that idea and made this card instead :)  I still didn't copy the sketch exactly...sorry Marit...just couldn't cut my sentiment into 2 :(  You can see Marit's gorgeous card HERE.  All the other DT cards are gorgeous too...well worth a look HERE.

Here's my card:

I also wanted to play along with Makeesha's challenge again this week, which is this colour challenge:

I thought I could work these colours into a princess card :)  It wasn't as easy as I'd thought and took a bit of contemplating, but I got there in the end!  I don't have the new SU In-colours yet so I've had to use Real Red instead of Poppy Parade...they're on the list for the next order :)

Thanks for looking...have a wonderful day :)

DP:   Basic Gray for 'grass'

Scary Roses!! :)

Roses are my favourite flowers...so when I saw this digi image from Delicious Doodles I fell in love with it and had to buy it :)  But the thought of colouring it scared me no-end!!  I've never coloured roses before and wasn't sure how I'd go with it.  I kept putting off having a go until I decided I wanted to use it on a friend's birthday card...so I took a deep breath...and me and my Copics jumped in and coloured our little hearts out lol!!  The image is partly shaded, so that helped a lot :)  I'm pretty happy with the end result and will definitely use this image again.

I'm entering this in Makeesha's sketch challenge this week, which you can see HERE.  Here's my card:

I don't think I've been this organised with birthday cards for years...I seem to be always running late these days...and I USED to be SOOOO organised :(  Maybe this is a sign that I'm back on track :)  I have quite a few birthdays to make cards for between now and Christmas.  And if I don't start on the Chrissy cards very soon, I'll be doing them at the last minute!! I hope I can maintain the roll I'm on at present :)

MPS Full Moon Fever Blog Hop

Welcome to my entry for the Michelle Perkett Studio Full Moon Fever blog hop :)  If you arrived here from JOSIE'S blog then you're on the right track...otherwise you might like to go back to the START,  at Michelle's blog, so you don't miss any of the wonderful creations.

I wasn't going to enter the hop as Halloween isn't a big thing in Australia and I didn't know what I could make, that would get used! Then a friend came to the rescue by telling me they are giving her daughter a Halloween themed party for her 11th birthday...so I got to play in the hop after all...yay :)

Here's the card I made for Felyse's Halloween Birthday:

And here's the inside:
The cute witch is Candy Corn Witch from Michelle's Etsy shop HERE where you will find lots of gorgeous digis to play with :) She has been fussy cut and popped up on foam dots over the background.  The background DP is made from free digi papers from Summertime Designs. The inside of the card is computer generated and has a watermarked version of the image as background to the greeting.

Now it's on to the lovely LEE'S blog to see her amazing creation :)

Thanks for looking...have a wonderful day :)

Hannah's 9th Birthday Card

The challenge this week at Pollycraft is to use Green, Purple and 1 Other...how could I resist this lol...these are my favourite colours :)  And seeing as how my granddaughter, Hannah, has a purple theme in her bedroom, I thought I'd make her birthday card...ready for the end of next month. How organized is that for someone who seems to be always running late these days!! Wonders will never cease :)

I made her a bookmark to go with the card...here they are:

Hannah loves to read...and I've been into making bookmarks recently...so I thought she might like a special bookmark, made just for her from Nanny :)  This card was inspired by Paula's card for challenge #65 at Pollycraft.  I absolutely LOVE her card and asked if she minded me casing it. I would have liked to COPY it completely as I think it's perfect in every way...but I didn't think that was really the best thing to do when I wanted to enter this in the challenge this week :)  Maybe for another birthday somewhere along the line I'll do a copied rendition of Paula's beautiful card!

Here's a closer look at the inside and images:

I made an acetate pocket to hold the bookmark in the card:

This brings back some lovely childhood memories for me...lying in the grass, reading. I was an avid bookworm in my younger days...sadly life is too busy these days to indulge very often :(  When I get my nose into a book, nothing else happens and I lose all sense of what's going on around me!! My hubby has been known to hide my books on occasion over the years, just so he can get a few words out of me lol...you'd think he'd like the peace and quiet :)

Thanks for looking...have a wonderful day :)

Once Upon a Time...

The challenge this week at Pollycraft is "It's a Fairytale". I was a bit stumped with this one at first until I remembered an 8 x 8 panel I bought while visiting my lovely friend Helen in Victoria. I loved this panel but had no idea what I was going to do with it, so it's been patiently sitting in my box of DP waiting to be used :)

Unfortunately I only managed to get the panel done as I've been super busy this week...I am going to make it into an album and put the words "Once Upon a Time" on the front...thought it would make a lovely album for someone's little princess :)  I'll edit this post and add the photo when I get it done.

Here's the panel:

The story goes like this: "Once upon a time there lived a king whose daughters were all beautiful, but the youngest was so lovely that even the sun, that looked on many things, could not but marvel when he shone upon her face..........  "

I've used the gorgeous Evangeline, from the Sweet Dreams Springtime Retro set from Pollycraft, as the beautiful princess :) The story starts to repeat on the RHS where I've adhered the image.

Here's a close up of Evangeline:
I'm disappointed I didn't get the album done...hopefully over the next week I'll find the time to make it.

Thanks for looking...have a wonderful day :)

A New Look!

As if I don't already have enough things to keep me occupied....I got it into my head to make my own blog wear...WHAT a journey this has been!! Making the elements was the easy bit...loading them all onto my blog was the challenge!  I've been at it for the last 4 days...every spare minute I've had...determined to get it to work.  Just call me VERY stubborn :) But now I have some seriously cute owls (thanks to Miss Kim Designs) to grace my little bit of blogland :)

I'm pretty keen to make some more now...I can then chop and change without too much hassle whenever I feel like it.  Variety is the spice of life you know :) :) :)  And after all...I am a Leo and Leos like change!!

I am very grateful to all the clever people out there in blogland who offer tutorials to us dummies so we can play in the scary code stuff a bit :)

Have a wonderful day...........

Willow Door Hanger

This week the challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio is "Girlie with Bling". I used the gorgeous new Willow from Michelle Perkett's Etsy shop HERE to make a door hanger :)

Here she is:

I haven't made one of these in a while...I'd forgotten how much I enjoy decorating the wood forms :)  The door hanger is a Kaiser wood form, painted and covered with Kaiser DP. Willow has been printed onto X-Press It blending card, coloured with Copics and glitter pens, sprayed with Glimmer Mist, fussy cut and popped up on dots. The 'sun' orb is coated with AED Golden Sunset fine glitter and Kaiser rhinestones have been used for the sun's 'rays'.

It's not easy getting a good photo of the bling at the best of times...I'll try another photo tomorrow in daylight and see if it's any better!! This is a very silly hour of the night to be blogging really lol :)

Amy's Birthday Card

Well...I actually managed to get inspired and make Amy's card! I don't LOVE this card but at least it's done.  This is another image I coloured a few weeks ago, waiting to be used.  It's another of the Sugarplums "Take a Seat" collection by CC Designs...LOVE this set...it's soooo cute :)

The window frame and sky have been created using digi papers. They were then layered onto a piece of DP and adhered to a 5 1/2" square card. Emma has been fussy cut and popped up on foam dots.

Now I just have to get Amy's pressie and I'm all set for the weekend. Turning 5 is very exciting...she is our youngest grandbaby...and is very cute :)  They grow up SOOOO fast :(

Sending you Sunshine

WOO HOO...my second post for the day!!! I've had this image coloured for a while, just sitting waiting to be used on a card for my niece...she had a mastectomy last year and has just undergone a HUGE reconstructive surgery.  I did want to get this card to her when she came home from hospital but I guess it's better late than never :(

This is one of the very cute Lilybean fairies from Pollycraft HERE. I had to have some of them as soon as I saw them :) I'm entering this card in the Pollycraft weekly challenge which is to use autumn colours. Talk about scraping in by the skin of my teeth...only 4 hours left 'til the challenge closes!!!

A close up of the cute fairy :)

A Barrel of Monkeys

Not only have I been time-poor lately, but now my mojo has gone into hiding somewhere and I can't find it!!!! :(  I'm beginning to get the odd day to myself where I could be playing...but NO inspiration has been forthcoming...very frustrating!

Anyhow...it's our grandson, Brody's, birthday on 26th and I really wanted to make him a card like Helen made HERE.  I loved this card when Helen made it and asked if I could case it for Brody...isn't it great to have very clever friends who let you case their brilliant work lol :)...so while I was visiting Helen in August I stamped a heap of monkeys from her SU set, all ready to go.

Here's the card:

and inside:

This is the first pop-up card I've ever made! There's no colouring on this card...never feels quite right when I don't do any colouring!  I bought the Barrel of Monkeys game to go with Brody's birthday presents...it's an oldie but a goodie :)...hope he likes it!

Now to find some inspiration to make Amy's card...her birthday is the day before Brody's and she's turning 5...they grow up SOOOO fast!!

Supplies:
CS:    All CM from my stash except for SU Whisper White
Stamps:   Monkey from SU Fox & Friends set (thanks Helen)
Wording:  All computer generated
Other:  Fiskars texture plate (for the woodgrain on barrel), foam dots

I'm entering this in the Totally Papercrafts challenge this week which is "Happy Birthday"
