Dustin Pike Monkey Box

Hello there...it's Friday...already!!...boy, do they come around fast!  We have a new challenge up for our Copic/Promarker group at The Outlawz. Our theme this week is Men Only...a hard one for me as I'm not too good with the guy stuff, unless of course it's cute lol

Here's my project:

I've been going to make this little pressie for a very long time...like, for over a year! I wanted to say a thank you to my lovely friend Helen's hubby, for loaning her to me for a visit. Was going to do it after her last visit but haven't managed to get organised, so this time when she went home I was determined to make sure I did something to send!!  Still took me a few weeks but at least we're not a year down the track this time :)

Helen's hubby isn't much of a chocolate eater (I sure wish I had missed the chocolate eating gene!) but apparently he likes Wagon Wheels, so that was what I went and bought...this is the third lot since deciding on this pressie because the first 2 lots went out of date before I got the box made LOL  Sadly we had to eat them...couldn't be sending stale Wagon Wheels as a pressie now could we!! :)

Here's a view of the box open:

And one from the top:

And another one showing the Wagon Wheels inside :)  (Yes, I really am sending them this time!!)

I based this little box on a fabulous tutorial from Bronwyn which you can find HERE.  Mine ended up being a whole box, rather than a treat holder because the WWs are quite large. I made the box with a flap opening in the top for easy access. The cute images are from Dustin Pike. The monkey's sign comes blank so I added the text and arrow with My Memories Suite...the more I use it, the more I love this software.  The monkey inside has a half-eaten cupcake in the original image, which I removed for this project, and looks like he's over-indulged :)  The images were coloured with Copics...not even any glitter pens on this one :(  Wonder why boys don't have the same fascination with bling that us girls do lol

Copic Colours:

Thanks for looking....have a wonderful day :)

Supplies:
CS:   X-Press It blending card, SU Not Quite Navy & Choc Chip
DP:   Kaiser
Stamps:   Dustin Pike, SU Yummy
Colouring:   Copics
Other:   Glaze pen, SU Bashful Blue chalk (for sky), 7/8" circle punch, foam dots

Hee, hee, hee!!! The WW holder turned out fabulous Lynne - I'm sure my hubby is going to love it (I might even get to have another visit, lol) The papers look fantastic & your coloured monkeys are just adorable, especially the inside one, who is looking a tad "green" from too much chocolate! Hugs :)

I love this. The front is so cute but I adore the monkey on the inside. Are you sure you didn't feed him the outdated Wagon Wheels. LOL So cute.

This is sooooo awesome, Lynne!!! I was giggling so much when I read about the previous boxes going out of date....that is so something that would happen to me too ;) I bet Helen's hubby is going to love it :)

I have no idea what a Wagon Wheel is which is probably a good thing. LOL If it's a treat I'll eat it. :-) I think your friends hubby will really appreciate your thoughtfulness and that funny little monkey can't help but make him smile. You did a great job on this little gift box Lynne. It's a cutie! Hugs!

OMG Lynne, I haven't had a wagon wheel since I was in elementary school. When my Mom didn't put one in my lunch is was total "lunch bag let down"...funny I have used that expression twice in one day, weird. Perhaps I should just go out and get me one, lol.
You card, box and complete idea is awesome to say the least. I love it and i am sure so will your friends hubby. What an imagination you have :)S
